(CHARLOTTE, N.C.) — Former Arizona Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, who stepped down from her post following a gunshot wound to the head last year, will deliver the Pledge of Allegiance tonight at the Democratic National Convention, sources told ABC News on Thursday.
Her staff had previously confirmed that Giffords was in Charlotte, N.C., but it was not clear what role she would play in the convention.
Giffords resigned from Congress in late January, a little more than a year after she was shot in the head during a constituent event in her home district in Tucson.
