Jason Aldean will announce nominees in select categories for the 46th Annual CMA Awards Wednesday morning on ABC’s Good Morning America. The full CMA Awards nominations announcement will be streamed live at CMAAwards.com starting at 9:15 a.m. ET.
Lady Antebellum was supposed to take part in the nominations announcement, but bad weather kept them from getting to New York City according to a tweet from band member Hillary Scott.
You can bet Jason and Lady A will hear their names announced among the nominees, and a few other country stars are hoping for nods this year too:
— After scoring back-to-back #1 hits from their current album, Life at Best, Eli Young Band has their fingers crossed for a CMA nomination.
Says front man Mike Eli, “We’ll take any of them, but it’s one of those things, we’re just so happy that we’re having this success these days. To have another nomination would be incredible.”
Mike adds that it’s a great feeling to continue accomplishing big things in their career after being together for more than a decade.
— Dierks Bentley won his first CMA trophy back in 2005 when he won the Horizon Award, but his affiliation with the CMA goes back farther than that.
“The Country Music Association really was my first home on Music Row when I worked over there as an intern in the P.R. department,” Dierks explains. “Yeah, I’ve always been a big fan, and to see it from both sides of the fence has always been cool for me.”
Dierks adds that it’s a big honor to be mentioned as a CMA nominee, and performing on the show is an even bigger thrill.
He says, “I’m always just honored and grateful, really just grateful every time I get that chance. For real, it’s awesome.”
— Little Big Town is no stranger to the CMA Vocal Group category, but they see the competition in that field getting stiffer every year.
“There’s more groups than I can remember in recent history, and making great music,” says LBT’s Jimi Westbrook.
Little Big Town is working hard to one day actually take home one of those CMA bullet trophies.
The band’s Karen Fairchild says, “You can’t rest your hat and say, ‘I just want to have a CMA award,’ but boy, do you want one.”
Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley return as hosts of the 46th Annual CMA Awards airing live on ABC Thursday, November 1 at 8:00 p.m. ET.
