Former American Idol champ Carrie Underwood has been paying attention to the rumors that one of the new Idol judges will be coming from the country music world.  At one point Brad Paisley seemed like the producer’s choice for the gig, and now it seems that Keith Urban is getting the judging job instead.

Carrie says, “I think all the names that they’ve thrown out for the country music people to come in and be a judge have been really solid names, so I’m excited like everyone else to see who it’s going to be.”

Having a judge from the country genre makes sense to Carrie since she won the Idol crown in 2005, and Scotty McCreery and Lauren Alaina took the top two spots in 2011.

“There’s obviously a want for it from the American Idol-watching audience, ’cause that’s who they’re voting for,” Carrie says. “So, it makes sense that they would have somebody that they know and love in as a judge.”
