Jerrod Niemann has revealed the cover art for his new album, Free the Music, and everything you see on that cover symbolizes some some aspect of the new project.
In the cover photo, Jerrod is seen opening a set of doors, which he says represents letting the music out and inviting the listener inside. The cover art also features many of the instruments used on the album, including horns, fiddle and steel guitar. Those instrument choices are a statement of what Jerrod thinks defines country music.
“The pedal steel guitar has come to define country music, but there were years and years of country being made before that instrument was even invented,” Jerrod explains. “Horns have been in country going back to the 1920s, and fiddles and other string instruments date back even further. I took all those things and put them on Free The Music.”
The lead single from Free the Music, “Shinin’ on Me,” is now climbing the country chart, and pop star Colbie Caillat joins Jerrod on the track “I’m All About You.” Free the Music lands in stores October 2.
