SANFORD–Two black bear cubs strolled into Sanford last night…from when they came, noone seems to know. The two bears were walking side by side, according to reports, however, they apparently became separated when one decided to take a dip in the pool. They probably heard about Lee County being a very friendly town. One went to the Hampton Inn for a swim, and was later apprehended by law officers. The other, if indeed it was two, was chased up a tree by a dog this morning near the Employment security Office on Lee Avenue. Workers heard the dog barking, and when they looked out, they saw the bear climbing into the tree. He was still in the tree an hour ago. Authorities say they plan to keep an eye on the situation and hope that the bear will come down. Major Kevin Gray asks that the public not feed the bear. He will not come down as long as there are spectators. At this moment, there are many.
