ERWIN–According to reports from WRAL, 18 yerar old Cody Lee Jernigan of Dunn has been charged by Erwin police with eight counts of larceny by employee, and larceny and possessing stolen property. Jernigan bagged and stocked groceries at an Erwin store. He is accused of stealing $31,000 from the business since May. Police said four other teens who didn’t work at the store face charges because Jernigan gave them some of the money. A detective said when the manager left his office, Jernigan would slip inside and take money. A surveillance camera recorded some of the thefts. Jernigan and two of the teens are are free under $25,000 bond each. A third remains jailed and the fourth teen is a 15 year old charged through juvenile petitions.
