Kenny Chesney scores his 11th consecutive #1 debut on Billboard‘s Country Albums chart this week with Welcome to the Fishbowl. The new project sold 193,000 copies in its first week — good for a #2 finish on the overall Billboard 200 chart. Welcome to the Fishbowl‘s first week sales outpace the first week sales of each of Kenny’s last three studio albums.
Part of Welcome to the Fishbowl‘s appeal may stem from Kenny’s honesty on the new album. A few songs on the project were actually recorded a while ago, but Kenny wasn’t comfortable putting them out until now.
“Once I was done with this record, and I listened to it top to bottom, I was a little nervous because there are some really personal songs on here,” Kenny says.
This commitment to being honest about his life is affecting Kenny’s relationships in the real world too. He says, “It’s something that I’m learning how to do in a lot of phases of my life aside from going into the studio and making music.”
Kenny will be making music with his pal Tim McGraw on the Brothers of the Sun tour this weekend with shows coming up in Pittsburgh and Cincinnati.
