(WASHINGTON) — Amine Mohammed El Khalifi, 29, of Alexandria, plead guilty in federal court Friday on charges of plotting to suicide bomb the Capitol earlier this year, according to the Washington Post.

Under a plea bargain with the prosecutors, Khalifi was sentenced to between 25 and 30 years in prison.

In February Khalifi was arrested near the Capitol when he was believed to have a loaded handgun and an explosives-laden vest.  According to U.S. Attorney Neil H. MacBride, “It was Mr. Khalifi at every step that was identifying targets and means to carry out the attacks,” which included a synagogue and other military offices in the Washington area.
