RALEIGH–Due to the joint budget agreement to exclude from funding for compensation for victims of the state’s former Eugenics Board program, as well as continuation funding for operation of the N.C. Justice for Sterilization Victims Foundation, the Foundation has suspended intake of new victim verification requests. 50 women were sterilized in Lee County during the period in question, however, no one has filed information seeking funding. There were 53 sterilizations in Chatham County during the period. Four women have now been verified. 2 of 78 have been verified in Moore County, and of 55 sterilizations in Harnett County, no one has come forth.
