(MIAMI) — Authorities in Miami have taken a man into custody after they say he tried to rush the cockpit on an American Airlines flight traveling from Montego Bay, Jamaica, to Miami.
“There was an unruly passenger on board,” said Miami International Airport spokesperson Maria Levrant. “He was restrained by the crew and the police were called.”
Flight 320 was already on the ground in Miami and the Boeing 757 was taxiing to the gate when a passenger identified only as a man stood up and made his way toward the cockpit door. The flight attendants told him to return to his seat and he refused.
Witnesses say he appeared to be more disoriented than menacing, but he was subdued by crew members and, as soon as the plane arrived at the gate, he was turned over to the police.
