SANFORD–William Earl McLaughlin, 48 of Juniper Drive has been arrested and charged with three counts of breaking, entering and larceny, three counts felony larceny, three counts felony possession of stolen goods, two counts injury to personal property, one count injury to real property and two counts of safe cracking.  The charges stem from a break-in at the Lee County clerk’s office, March 21, 2005, and also a break-in at Carter Bank & Trust on September 9, 2008 and March 5, 2012.  McLaughlin allegedly entered the clerk’s office and took a handgun and cash, and allegedly took cash in the other two break-ins.  He is being held in the Lee County Jail on an $80,000 bail.
