Garth Brooks has a new, if unexpected, singing partner: former Dallas Cowboys star Troy Aikman. The two sang together on a version of “This Land is Your Land” last week at the dedication of the Child Life Zone at Cook Children’s Medical Center in Forth Worth.
In addition to a pool table and arcade games, the $1.1 million center also boasts a state-of-the-art recording and TV studio, where kids can experiment with the help of the pros. Garth joked to Dallas-Fort Worth’s WFAA that he “had to be 50 and have a record deal before I got something like this,” then spent several hours visiting with patients.
An 8-year-old cancer patient got the rare chance to interview Brooks, asking what music the kids should pick for their jukebox. “I think you should have a lot of Garth Brooks on there, and a lot of Trisha Yearwood,” he suggested. “I think you’re good!” Yearwood, of course, is married to Brooks.
Brook’s & Aikman’s Teammates Foundation paid for the Child Life Zone, which officially opens in June.
