Miranda Lambert graces the cover of Self magazine’s June issue, and she’s sounding off on quite a few topics including her body image. Miranda says she feels best when she’s working out and feeling toned at a size 8.
“I don’t care about being stick-thin,” Miranda tells Self. “I don’t want stuff to jiggle.”
Miranda thinks it’s OK to be lazy and lay off your diet for awhile, but she took it a little too far late last year.
She says, “I gained about 10 pounds over the holidays, and when I got onstage in January, I realized I wasn’t feeling great. I didn’t have the energy or lung capacity I needed.”
Miranda worked out with a trainer to get her strength back again for the On Fire tour. She also asked her husband Blake Shelton why he didn’t tell her she’d gained weight over the holidays.
“He said, ‘That would go over like a lead balloon,'” Miranda says of Blake’s reaction to the weight question. For bonus points, Blake told Miranda, “It’s not my job to tell you you’re fat. It’s my job to tell you you’re beautiful.'”
Miranda talks about a few other topics in the Self article:
— Miranda tweeted earlier this year that she wasn’t happy Chris Brown had two performance slots on the Grammy Awards. Brown is still on probation in the felony assault case stemming from the 2009 attack on his then-girlfriend Rihanna, and Miranda says she would take her grievance up with Brown to his face too.
“If I saw him, I’d say, ‘We need to talk about you not doing this ever again,'” Miranda says. “And I might have to use some curse words to get my point across.”
— She carries a weapon with her after receiving a death threat a few years ago. “I don’t want bodyguards,” Miranda explains. “I am my own security.”
— Miranda thinks Blake is a little scared of her. She continues, “He says he’s not, but I’ve said, ‘If you cheat, I’ll spray-paint all of your trophy deer heads pink.'”
