Kenny Chesney has been in rehearsals for his Brothers of the Sun tour with Tim McGraw for the past few weeks, so it was really fun for him to get onstage for a big charity event this past weekend in New Orleans. He performed a set at the city’s House of Blues to wrap up Matthew McConaughey and New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees‘s 3rd Annual Amazing Race Charity Event.
“It was great for us to get on stage and feel the energy and feedback from the crowd,” Kenny says. “People in this town love music and helping out their neighbor and I was glad to be a part of it.”
During the auction at the event, one fan paid $10,000 for the chance to sing “Somewhere with You” with Kenny during his show later that night. Matthew and Drew also joined Kenny at the end of his set to sing “Boys of Fall.”
Proceeds from the event go to the Brees Dream Foundation and the Just Keep Livin Foundation.
Of note, Kenny’s new single, “Come Over,” is now at radio as the latest release from his new album, Welcome to the Fishbowl, due out June 19.
