Taylor Swift appeared in the film Valentine’s Day as part of an ensemble cast, and lent her voice to the animated film The Lorax. But now, she may be front and center in her next movie role — playing a world-famous musician.
Variety reports that Taylor is interested in portraying legendary singer-songwriter Joni Mitchell in an adaptation of the book Girls Like Us, which examined the careers of Mitchell, and equally-famous female seventies singer-songwriters Carly Simon and Carole King. Variety reports that Taylor doesn’t have an official offer on the table, but has been “circling” the role along with some other actresses.
The movie is tentatively scheduled set to start production later this year, though it has not been officially greenlit. If she lands the part, this would mark Taylor’s first role in a drama.
