SANFORD–Voting along party lines plus one, Lee County Commissioners defeated a motion to change the formula for distributing sales tax revenues. Commissioner Jim Womack’s motion failed on a four three vote with commissioners Robert Reives, Ed Paschal, Richard Hayes and “Doc” Oldham voting against and Chairman Linda Shook, Charlie Parks and Jim Womack voting in favor. During the public comment portion of the meeting, three of four speakers spoke against the change including Broadway Mayor Don Andrews. A change in distribution would have probably meant a tax increase for residents of Sanford and Broadway.
