SANFORD–Lee County Commissioners convened in special session Tuesday afternoon to , again, discuss sales tax distribution, a topic of controversy between the city and county. Chairman Linda Shook opened the meeting by announcing there would be no motions, etc., resulting in Commissioner Robert Reives asking “why they were there.” He told Shook that he never remembered attending such a meeting and he didn’t feel it was necessary. Shook said she was trying to lay to rest some of the scuttlebutt in the community. The meeting ended after a presentation by County Manager John Crumpton on possible tax distribution changes. The board also discussed the importance of a meeting between the three municipalities.
