Home / Local Sanford, NC News / A newly formed Tea Party group in Moore County is planning a Rally

SOUTHERN PINES–Over 1,000 residents packed downtown Southern Pines four years ago to support Moore Tea Citizens.  Despite diminishing support in recent years, organizers say this year’s Tax Day Rally is as important an event as they have ever had.  The free event will be held from 4-7 P.M. April 17 in front of the post office in downtown Southern Pines.  Residents are encouraged to bring their own flags and signs, provided they are in good taste.  According to the Pilot, “Tea” stands for “taxed enough already,” and is a nod to  the Colonial Boston Tea Party, one of the nation’s first organized political protests.

More local news can be heard Monday through Friday on WWGP 1050 and Classic Hits & Oldies.
