Pistol Annies contributed the song “Run Daddy Run” to #1-selling The Hunger Games soundtrack, but that spot on the album wasn’t given to them. Miranda Lambert explains to the Los Angeles Times, “We all read the book and loved it. Nobody asked us to do anything, we just fudged our way into it because we wanted to be part of it.”

This won’t be the last you’ll hear of Pistol Annies. Their debut album, Hell on Heels, bowed atop Billboard‘s Country Albums chart this summer, and there’s more music on the way.

“My thought was never that this would be a side project — we always planned to bring full force to it and do it right,” Miranda explains.

Miranda’s current single, “Over You,” is included on her latest solo project, Four the Record, available now.
