Eric Church has earned an Album of the Year nomination for Chief going into this Sunday night’s ACM Awards.  It’s just the latest recognition for the project, which has catapulted Eric’s career to a new level.

“I take more pride in making records than anything else we do,” Eric tells ABC News Radio.  “To get that nomination and coming off the back of a Grammy nomination for the same thing is very special to me.”

Eric’s also nominated in the Video of the Year category for “Homeboy,” but that nod came as a bit of a surprise since the song never cracked the top 10.

Eric explains, “It’s a heavy song.  It’s a meaty video.  It’s got a lot of substance to it.  I like seeing songs like that, you know, that are great representations of what the music is, get nominated.”

Eric adds that “Homeboy” is his favorite among all the videos he’s released so far in his career.

The 47th Annual ACM Awards broadcast live on CBS Sunday at 8 p.m. Eastern time with hosts Reba and Blake Shelton.
