SANFORD–Both sides of the fracking debate agree on one thing-there is not enough information in the draft report issued by state environmental officials to determine whether the controversial form of drilling for natural gas can be done safely. More information will be given March 27 at a public hearing in Chapel Hill. This will be the second and final hearing by the state. Over 500 attended the first meeting at the Dennis Wicker Civic Center and over 90 signed up to speak. The Sanford Area Chamber of Commerce is providing a bus to take Lee County residents to the hearing Tuesday. The bus will leave Sanford at 4 P.M. and return at 10 P.M. Interested persons must call the Chamber to reserve a seat.
