(CHARLESTON, W.Va) — Two adults and six children are dead after a fire broke out in a Charleston house overnight, The Herald-Dispatch reports.

The fire started before 3:30 a.m. in a two-story home on Arlington Ave. Two adults and six children, reportedly under the age of eight, have been confirmed dead. One adult and a child were taken to a local hospital. Firefighers said that a slumber party for the children had been taking place at the house.

The cause of the fire is being investigated.
