SANFORD–The state’s unemployment rates released Tuesday show that Lee County’s December unemployment rate of 12.3% was up to 13.1% in January. Rates were also up in Harnett, Moore and Chatham.  Lee County’s rate indicates a labor force of 26,801 with 3,510 unemployed.  State Employment officials  say seasonal factors contributed to the increase in rates across the state with increases in 95 counties, decreases in 3 counties and remaining the same in two counties.
