The Eli Young Band kicks off their tour opening for Tim McGraw and Faith Hill this week in Australia. Since all the shows are so far apart, the guys have to fly to each new city. That means they have some time off in between shows to be tourists.
Drummer Chris Thompson tells ABC News Radio they’re asking their tour promoters for suggestions about what to do with those free days. “It seems like there’s a lot of cool, little side trips you could do, but they all take three or four days,” he says, “and so we gotta have somebody on the inside give us a hand.”
Chris does have one thing he’d like to see while in Australia — kangaroo wrestling. We’ll keep you posted if he actually makes that dream come true.
Eli Young Band will be in Australia through March 27. On March 31, the guys play the Fremont Street Experience in Las Vegas as part of the events leading up to the ACM Awards on April 1. Eli Young Band is up for Vocal Group of the Year and Single of the Year for “Crazy Girl” at that show.
