Home / Local Sanford, NC News / Prayer may soon be silent at the County Commissioners’s meetings

SANFORD–Lee County Commissioner Charlie Parks has suggested that Lee County Commissioners consider having a silent prayer at the opening of their meetings instead of a board member leading prayer. He said the Gospel of John says that no one  comes to the Father except through Jesus, but the Bible also says to obey the law.  Some counties have faced lawsuits.  Parks said he doesn’t want that for Lee County.  Commissioner Jim Womack said he would need more information before voting on the issue.  County Manager Dale Talbert will investigate the matter and report back to the board.
