An idea for a song can hit a writer anywhere, and Kenny Chesney‘s latest hit, “Reality,” proves that point.  That song got its start while Kenny was sitting in the dentist’s chair.

He says, “I had the mask on, you know, where they give you that funny gas, so they can work on your mouth without you feeling it, and I remember thinking, ‘Wow, I haven’t been this relaxed in a long time.'”

That experience inspired Kenny to write about his own escape from reality.  He hopes his fans have that same experience when they come to his concerts this summer.

“I say it every night onstage.  We all got our problems, but for the next couple of hours, let’s push them aside and relax,” Kenny explains.

Kenny teams up with Tim McGraw for the Brothers of the Sun tour, launching June 2 in Tampa, FL.
