SANFORD–After one of the most active and deadly years in recent weather history, Gov. Bev Perdue along with local Emergency Management Director Shane Seagroves cautioned North Carolinians to be on the lookout for tornadoes and severe thunderstorms as spring approaches. March 4-10 has been declared Severe Weather Awareness Week in North Carolina. Perdue, Seagroves and other emergency officials throughout the state, recommend that families have safety plans for home, work or school so that they can respond quickly when tornadoes or severe storms threaten.
