Martina McBride really branched out in the songwriting department on her latest album, Eleven, co-writing six of the album’s 11 songs. She tells The Oklahoman, “It wasn’t really planned but I just did have more time and I made a decision really just to devote myself to it and see what became of it.”

Martina had co-written a few songs, including her hit “Anyway,” only with Brett and Brad Warren, who also had a hand in writing Toby Keith‘s latest single, “Red Solo Cup.” She describes them as her writing “comfort zone” and says, “I turned down a bunch of people that wanted to write; then I started thinking, ‘This is silly; I want to see what happens.’ And it turned out to be a great experience.”

Though she didn’t have a hand in writing it, Martina’s latest single, “I’m Gonna Love You Through It,” is approaching the top of the country singles chart.
